Why abortion is a Gospel issue
I contend that we cannot separate abortion and the pro-life position from the Gospel. God made humans in His image and likeness, and Jesus’ innocent blood was shed to redeem believers (Genesis 1:28). Therefore, the shedding of innocent human blood is an affront to God because His Son’s precious blood was spilled to save the life of fallen humanity.

Any culture that believes they’re helping mothers by encouraging them to kill their own children shouldn’t be expected to know what it really means to help mothers.

We can learn from Bonhoeffer on abortion
Do not get so lost in the overstimulating amount of opinions and information that you forget what (or better, who) is at stake in the abortion discussion. These actions are most fundamentally propelled by what Bonhoeffer, among others before and after him, understood. That the rights at stake for the unborn are distinctly, living, human rights.

We must remember that a mother is a mother every day of her life. For most moms, even Mother’s Day is not a day off.

The mother who shaped history
I know that much of this is conjecture, but the main point I want to hit home here is this: most of the biblical heroes in the Bible — including Moses, Ruth, Mary, and Jesus Himself — were raised and shaped by the care of their mothers. And that means that the mothers of the Bible are very much heroes of the Bible, as well.
