Some are given the responsibility to go to the mission fields, some are given the responsibility to support the goers with resources, while some are saddled with the responsibility to pray for the success of missionary work. If we are all carrying out these assignments faithfully, we can all rest assured that we are carrying out Jesus’ mission for our lives.
It is true, that, for many reasons, people are leaving the Church. It is also true that many others are meeting Jesus powerfully. That’s because, what the world so desperately needs, we have in the fullness of the Gospel. Let us not be ashamed to live it and proclaim it.
When John was caught up in heaven, the first thing he saw was “the One” sitting on the throne. Consequently, the primary focus of worship should not be about us but Him! Dads do this every day by supporting their kids (sometimes financially but always emotionally) through the ups and downs of new ventures. In fact, the best way a father can help his children succeed is often by helping them fail.
He is to be the representation of a permanent and loving presence in the home, beginning with demonstrating a sacrificial love for his wife. Unconditional love is to be extended to all, caring for and investing in each child individually.
Growing up in my dad’s house, I knew what he required of me but never knew what my father experienced. I learned the responsibility of fatherhood from my father, but I have discovered the joy of fathering on my own.
